My Happy Ending (Kat’s POV; Kalijah)
I feel something soft, as I’m lying on my back somewhere. I don’t know where I am right now and everything’s silent. The last thing I remember is being swept into oblivion, or whatever that black mass was. I thought I’d end up in hell, but I don’t feel like I’m surrounded by fire and there’s all the silence. Unless I’m just in my own hell. I don’t want to be in any kind of hell, though. I had enough hell when Damon got inside my head and tried to torment me when I was dying as a human. I know he hates me, but I was trying so hard to be a better person. Nadia, my daughter, and Stefan, Damon’s brother, were the only ones that saw that. Stefan even tried to give me peace before I died, while Nadia tried to save me. In the end, Nadia and I died in peace. Now I’m here, wherever here is.
I open my eyes and slowly sit up in bed.
I look around and see that I’m in a bedroom.
I get to my feet and go to the window and look out it.
For a few minutes, I’m silent, once I see what it looks like. I don’t know what to think. It looks like I’m still in Mystic Falls, but it’s different. The cars and houses I can see look abandoned. Curious, I decide to investigate. So, I leave the house and take a walk.
I stop walking to pick up the newspaper on Elena’s old lawn. And when I do, I see that the date is October 5, 2009. The day I turned Caroline Forbes into a vampire. That was a gift I gave her, so I figure I’m not in my own hell. I made her a better person by turning her. If I’m not in hell, then where am I?
I drop the newspaper and continue walking.
I stop walking, seeing someone standing not far from me, looking at me.
I smile, as she approaches me.
“Long time no see, Katherine. You’re probably wondering where you are, but it doesn’t matter. What matters is getting you out of here. Davina’s doing a spell as we speak. You’re needed in New Orleans. Esther, Mikael, and Finn have risen and are plotting against Klaus, Elijah, Hayley, Kol, Davina, Cami, and Marcel. Rebekah is returning with Hope. Hope needs protected. She was born a witch as well as a hybrid. Every enemy in the French Quarter think she’s dead, but they’ll soon find out the truth. You’re the only one I could think of that could help. You know what it’s like to lose a daughter. You also know the Mikaelsons very well. Help them. Please,” she says to me.
“You’re right. Don’t worry. I’ll save Hope and help them the best I can,” I assure Sophie Deveraux. She’s an old friend and I want to respect her wishes.
A moment later, I find myself in a mausoleum with a teenage witch. She’s probably Davina.
“Welcome back to the land of the living,” she greets.
“Thanks. Nice to meet you, Davina. I’d love to get to know you, but I have somewhere to be,” I reply, before walking out, not letting her say anything else.
Before I know it, I’m at the Mikaelson family home.
I walk in just as Klaus says, “To go get our daughter.”
Before he and Hayley can go anywhere, I walk inside.
A moment later, Klaus has me pinned to a wall.
“Katerina,” he growls. “What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be dead.”
“And you’re supposed to be going with Hayley to get Hope. Don’t worry. I pose no threat to her. Cliff notes is that I did die, but not for long. Sophie told me what’s going on and that she wants me to help. I promised her I would, so don’t kill me yet. Besides, I know what it’s like to lose a daughter, one way or another. I’m here to help protect her and help you defeat Esther and Mikael. So swallow that ego of yours and learn to trust me.”
He lets go of me and I look at them both.
“Let’s go fetch Hope and Rebekah. I’m not staying alone here and you’re the best protection in the world, apart from Hayley and Elijah, of course.”
“I don’t think my brother will be much company or of use. Esther did something to him. Now he has killed a bar full of humans.”
“Then I’ll bring him back from the deep end. He would never hurt me, no matter what I am or what I do,” I inform him.
Soon, we arrive at the bar and I can see why Klaus is so clearly worried. So, once I tell Rebekah the cliff notes, we head back.
Once Klaus has him on his own bed and has gone, I silently sit on his bedside, hand in his, waiting for him to come to. Rebekah didn’t know what else to do, so she broke his neck.
An hour later, he awakes to see me.
I smile.
“Katerina?” he questions with one hand on the side of my face. “Is that really you?”
“It is. I’m not a hallucination. I’ve come to help you and to help take down your parents.”
“You’re human. What has happened to you?” he asks.
“Long story,” I reply, before giving him the cliff notes.
“Forgive me, Katerina. I would’ve helped if I had known.”
“I forgave you on my deathbed. Don’t tell Klaus you know. I understand why he didn’t tell you. You would’ve dropped everything here to try and save me, and he needs you to stay here with him,” I say.
We smile at each other in understanding and forever and eternal love.
Soon, the Mikaelson’s parents are defeated and Finn is in a coffin for punishment, so all is well. Rebekah and Hope even come home for good. And Elijah and I even get back together, so I stay and Hayley and I become friends. I finally get my happy ending.

It was a beautiful day, as Katerina ran through the woods, Elijah and other people in search of her. They were following what Klaus wanted. Bring her to him alive in time for the ritual so he could become the hybrid.
She tripped over a twig and looked up to see Trevor.
"Please. I can't run anymore," she begged.
She stood and he gave her the moonstone.
"There's a cabin not far from here. Show her this and tell her I sent you. Go. I can't hold them off much longer."
She did as she was told and Rose let her in.
After she was fed and had had water, she was put in a room.
Soon, Trevor came, and he and Rose had an argument, Rose wanting to take her back to Klaus, Trevor wanting to save her.
While they argued, Katerina hung herself with Rose's blood in her system, and later woke up in transition on the bed.
"Why did you do it? I would've helped you escape," Trevor said.
"No. You would've helped me run, and that wouldn't have been enough," she replied.
"Don't you see? She used your love for her to get what she wanted," Rose said.
Rose tried to stake her, but Kat put the old woman in front of her, and Rose accidentally staked the owner of the cabin.
"I'm sorry. Forgive me," Katerina said to Trevor, before feeding. She then tossed the body to Rose, and fled.

Katerina Petrova and Elijah Mikaelson: The Full St
Introduction
There is a story of two vampires. One, Katerina who later was known as Katherine. The other, Elijah who was very loyal to his family but loved her all the same. Their love reached to an epic level of compassion, loyalty, trust, betrayal, lies, deceit, and forgiveness. He had so much faith that he could find his Katerina behind what he called “this Katherine façade.” He had so much faith and trust in her, but he found himself second guessing his loyalty to her. By 2013, he didn’t know whether to trust her or not. She kept doing things that made him second guess whether he could still trust her or not. He still loved her, though. He would always love her. She loved him too, but she had lied and ran for so long to survive, that she didn’t know who she was when they first met back in England in 1492. She told him that she wanted to find out, though. She even trusted him with something called the cure for vampirism. The last that they had seen of each other after that was when he said goodbye to her and kissed her on the forehead, saying “goodbye, Katerina.” He felt that he had to leave, because he had to help his younger brother, Klaus, deal with some witches in New Orleans. He chose his family over the girl that he had loved for 500 years, and would love forever more. Little did he know what would ensue once he had left Mystic Falls. This is their epic story.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Elijah was born a human to Mikael and Esther Mikaelson in the tenth century in the New World, later named Mystic Falls, Virginia. He was the eldest of his siblings after his elder brother died. His other siblings were Finn, Kol, Henrik, Niklaus, and Rebekah. He calls Niklaus his brother, though they are only half-brothers. Niklaus was born a werewolf, because of their mother, Esther, having an affair with a werewolf and getting pregnant with Klaus.
When they were kids and still human, Elijah took Klaus into the woods to teach him how to hunt. He encouraged him, telling him that his aim with the bow is improving. Mikael snatched it from Klaus though, and scolded him for encouraging Klaus. When he snatched the bow away, he told Klaus that he wasn’t man enough to hold a weapon. Klaus apologized, but Mikael started to beat him. Elijah tried to stop him, but was scared off when Mikael threatened that he’d be next if he intervened.
For twenty years, they lived among werewolves. During the full moon, the humans would hide in underground caves while the wolves turned. During Elijah’s early life, Elijah and Klaus fell in love with a girl named Tatia who lived in their village. All the villagers wanted to be her suitors including Elijah and Klaus, both of them during their time with her, argued with each other and fought each other because they both wanted her for themselves. Tatia couldn’t decide between the two of them.
When Mikael found Klaus making chess toys with his hunting knife, he whipped and beat Klaus so bad that his siblings feared for his life. Elijah tried to stop him, but he pushed Elijah away and continued to punish Klaus until Rebekah came in with a sword and wanted his abuse of Klaus to end. Mikael got furious at them for choosing Klaus over their own father and then grabbed the sword and left the three of them. One night, Rebekah had had enough of Mikael’s abuse towards Klaus, so she took his knife and intended to kill him in his sleep, but Elijah came and took it from her and sent her away before leaving and then going to sleep himself.
One morning after a full moon, Niklaus came out of the woods, holding his dead brother Henrik in his arms. Elijah came running to join his mother as she grieved Henrik’s death. To ensure that the rest of her family would survive, Esther used a spell called the Immortality spell, since she was a very powerful witch. Mikael gave them wine laced with blood from Tatia, but they didn’t know that until after the spell was complete. Then he stabbed Elijah and his siblings and made them drink human blood. After becoming a vampire, Elijah, along with his family, made sure that the White Oak tree, the one true thing that would ultimately kill them, would be destroyed.
Shortly after becoming a vampire, one night when Klaus made his first human kill, it triggered his werewolf side. Elijah and Mikael ran to Klaus and discovered the truth about him. Mikael and Elijah then shortly ran away before it got worse. Mikael then forced his wife to make his werewolf side dormant. Mikael also made Elijah help him tie Klaus up so that his mother could do the spell. Then one night, Esther was killed by “Mikael.” After burying her Elijah, Klaus, and Rebekah promised that they would never turn their backs on each other, and that they would stick together as one, always and forever.
In Italy in 1114, Elijah was with Klaus and Rebekah. They came across a vampire hunter by the name of Alexander who was part of a group called The Five. Rebekah fell in love with Alexander. Elijah and Klaus took advantage as an opportunity to get closer to Alexander and find out his secrets. One day, the siblings were invited to a party at Alexander’s home where they were attacked by surprise and daggered. Klaus was unaffected because of his werewolf lineage and undaggered the rest of his siblings except Finn.
In 1359, Elijah began to notice that Rebekah and Klaus were losing their humanity. However, as their older brother, he believed that he could lead them down the right path to reclaim their humanity and carry on the family legacy. But he believed if he failed, their family legacy would fall in ruins.
During the 15th century, Katerina Petrova was born into a wealthy Bulgarian family on June 5th, 1473. In 1490, when she was about 17 years of age, Katerina became pregnant by an unknown man, and her family disowned her for the shameful birth of an illegitimate daughter. She carried the child to term, but seconds after her daughter's birth, Katerina's father took the child away, claiming it would be better for both of them to never see one another. Katerina was devastated by this and was banished to England, where she quickly adjusted by becoming English. In 1492, she met Trevor, who introduced her to Lord Elijah, who in turn introduced her to his younger brother, Lord Niklaus. Katerina was attracted to Klaus but later fell in love with his elder brother Elijah.
In England in 1492, Elijah and Klaus were noblemen in the late fifteenth century. Elijah met Katerina Petrova, who was the doppelganger of Tatia and moments later, showed her to Klaus. Katerina was the key to breaking Klaus’ Hybrid Curse through sacrifice. While he was helping Klaus to achieve his goal, he started to fall in love with Katerina. And when Elijah one day saw Katerina bored, he took her outside to have fun and then they sat on a bench and talked about love. Elijah confessed to her that he didn’t believe in love, but Katerina didn’t believe him, saying that without love, they wouldn’t have a reason to live at all. Klaus then came and interrupted, taking Katerina with him and away from Elijah. Elijah then tried to persuade Klaus to spare her life, but Klaus told him not to bother and that the ritual would go on as planned. On the night of the full moon, Katerina took the moonstone and fled with the help of Trevor. Klaus assumed Elijah had helped her because of their discussion the night before about sparing her life. Elijah promised him that he would find her and Klaus responded with a promise of his own, if he did not find Katerina, he would be killed, which meant that he would end up with a dagger in his chest and spending about a century or two in a box. Elijah attempted to track down Katerina, but failed.
In 1492, when Katerina returned to Bulgaria after running from fleeing from Klaus and turning into a vampire to do so, she arrived on horseback to see her entire village, including her family slaughtered. She knew that it had to be Klaus that had done it. When she ran to her home, she saw that her father had a sword through his chest and was hanging from the wall, while her mother was on the bed with her throat torn out. She went to the bed and cried over her mother’s body, before fleeing from her home.
In 1498, Katerina went back to Bulgaria in search of her long lost baby girl who was eight at the time, searching every single village. She couldn’t find her though, so she left.
In the 1700’s, they fled from the New World from Mikael and sailed down the Mississippi river and arrived in New Orleans, 300 years from the present. Upon arriving off the coast of New Orleans, they slaughtered all the men who boarded their ship, but left one alive to question and carry their luggage, including the two coffins that held their daggered brothers, Kol and Finn. Elijah requested that man to find more help with the luggage and told him in a sarcastic way, “My sincere apologies.”
In 1720, Katherine killed a man outside the French Court of Versaille. Her daughter was in search of her mother and was a vampire at this time. She offered to pay a man who witnessed Katherine kill a man, telling him that she’s been on the run for 228 years.
In the 1800’s Elijah, Klaus, and Rebecca were living at the Governor’s mansion in New Orleans and paid him to keep quiet about the existence of vampires. One day the Governor threw a part for them. Rebekah went upstairs with the Governor’s son who she wanted to turn. Elijah was kissing a woman and having fun when Rebekah came to him with the Governor’s son and asked if Elijah would turn him, to which Elijah suggested would be a unwise move to turn the Governor’s son into a vampire. Klaus told her no and told her that if they turned every boy she fell in love with, the humans would cease to exist. The boy then argued with Klaus and he threw him down the stairs while Elijah tried to stop it. While they were going to attend the Governor’s son’s funeral, Klaus saw a boy being whipped and threw an apple at the man and made him stop whipping him. Klaus then came to the boy, named him Marcellus and brought him to his family. Elijah saw this and commented to Rebekah, “Perhaps there is hope for our brother after all.”
Later in 1820, Elijah visited a witch, Celeste, who was taking a bath and looking at Elijah. Celeste mentioned that his brother is up to no good. He challenged her as if they had a fair fight. He then said, “I do grow weary of sacrificing my joy to temper my brother’s mischief. Surely, you can cast a spell to put him in his place.” But she mentioned that it would take 100 witches to put him in place. Elijah then mentioned that his brother certainly needs a little discipline, and jokes that maybe a spanking of some kind is in order. And told her that he thinks he shall need some rehearsal. They then both kissed before he left to meet his brother.
When Elijah met his brother, he was challenging a man to a duel and soon was left standing as the victor and the other man was shot in the head. Elijah then became worried and said, “Brother! Please, this is high folly.” He then asked Klaus if it was enough, that he had slaughtered dozens in just these past weeks, and explained a word of a city littered with bodies would surely travel the oceans. He then asked his brother if he wanted to bring their father upon them. Klaus told him to relax, and that he sent rumor that the bodies were result of the witches seeking blood sacrifices for their rituals. Elijah then was a little shocked and said, “You did what?” He asked Klaus if he had forgotten that Celeste was one of those that he recklessly pointed his finger at. Klaus then asked who Celeste was. Elijah then gave Klaus a meaningful look and Klaus remembered the witch Elijah had been knocking around with. Klaus then told him, “Well, fear not. Harlots are like rats in the quarter. You trip over one every step you take.” Elijah then took his revolver out and shot Klaus. Klaus saw that Elijah cared about Celeste and warned that they were rounding up the witches as they were speaking. Elijah began to look for Celeste and found her lying in the bathtub, dead and blamed himself for her death.
In 1864, 372 years later, she arrived in Mystic Falls, Virginia with the name of Katherine Pierce, presumably to avoid detection by Klaus. At some point she had become friends with Pearl and her daughter, Anna, and she saved the life of the witch Emily Bennett, putting Emily in her debt. Emily forged her a special piece of jewelry with the stone Lapis Lazuli which allowed her to walk in the sun without being burned. She was taken in by one of the town's founders, Giuseppe Salvatore, having spun a story about being orphaned by a fire that killed her family. Katherine met and fell in love with his youngest son Stefan Salvatore, though she quickly began a physical relationship with Stefan's older brother, Damon, as well. Katherine created quite a few vampires while living in Mystic Falls, which inevitably alerted the Founding Families to their existence. Pearl warned Katherine that the town knew about the vampires after discovering an elixir containing vervain, which Honoria Fell had asked to be sold at the apothecary. Pearl tried to convince her to leave, but Katherine refused, claiming she had a plan in motion. Her plan, it turned out, was to turn Stefan and Damon into vampires, having seduced them both during her stay at the Salvatore household.
Noticing how quickly the Founder's Council would take action against the vampires, Katherine struck a deal with George Lockwood. She would give him the moonstone if he would help her fake her death. Eventually, Stefan unwittingly suggested to his father that he knew a vampire, and Giuseppe guessed Katherine's true identity. Giuseppe spiked Stefan's drink with vervain and, later that same night, Katherine bit him. She was incapacitated by the vervain in his bloodstream, and, hearing the commotion, Giuseppe burst in to take her away. Damon later went to rescue her, and Stefan, upset that he had hurt his brother and jeopardized Katherine's life, helped him in the effort. They were both killed trying to save her, shot by their own father, Giuseppe, who was ashamed his sons had succumbed to the wiles of a demon.
Katherine and the other vampires were taken to Fell's Church to be destroyed, but George helped Katherine escape. She gave George the moonstone but instead of leaving right away, she turned to see Damon and Stefan's bodies lying in the road. She ran to Stefan, kissed him, and promised they would be together again someday. After transitioning into a vampire, Damon was told by Emily that Katherine was trapped in the tomb beneath the church, and as a result, the older Salvatore never stopped loving Katherine as he awaited the day he would be able to rescue her. In reality, Katherine was still lying low to evade Klaus, and she kept a close eye on the younger Salvatore brother, pointing out that she had seen him in the front row of a concert in the 1980s to prove that she'd always been watching over him.
In 1882, 52 years after being daggered by Klaus, Rebekah had finally been undaggered by him. Elijah helped her reintegrate herself into New Orleans society and they went to the opera house together. It was a moment that only they shared together.
In 1919, Elijah was in a meeting room with members from the Guerrera crime family, a werewolf crime family who were almost as the monsters they turned into on a full moon according to Klaus. Elijah told them that Mayor O’Connell was a little late but they would continue with business without him. Klaus then appeared and told his brother that he enjoyed these illicit, little gatherings. Elijah assured them that they didn’t need to be afraid of Klaus as he made a promise they would be safe and Klaus told them that his brother always kept his word. Then a witch appeared and Elijah told him it was a private meeting. The witch said it was a meeting between kings and that he was also a king and he had rules. He talked for the witches of the New Orleans Coven and that his name was Alphonz Bellatunde Delgallo. He told them the witches should get a fair share left with a gift to Elijah and Klaus, which was the Mayor’s head. Later when Marcel Gerard returned home from World War 1, he was greeted both by Elijah and Klaus. Klaus told Marcel, “The Prodigal son has finally learned to hold his liquor.” Marcel said that being in the army did that to you. Elijah said that it was good to have him back and told him that Niklaus was beside himself in Marcel’s absence. Klaus then told him that he and Elijah had had an argument that Marcel might be able to with a rouge witch who wanted a piece of the city they built. Klaus considered killing him and Elijah meant that negotiation was their best course, as Elijah knew how fast news could travel, but also the horrors of war itself. Klaus revealed that he invited the witch and Elijah told Marcel he could choose what they should do after he saw the witch. Elijah tried negotiation with him but after all his sacrifices, Elijah decided to meet with him in a private room. However, Klaus appeared instead as Elijah only came when they dealed, and Klaus came when the deal was closed.
Later that year, Elijah met Clara Summerlin at the bar, while Genevieve and Rebekah were talking about Klaus and Elijah, looking at them from a distance off. Genevieve told her that she liked Klaus and Rebekah started to talk about Elijah. Clara, at that time, was possessed by Celeste, but no one knew that. She spilled her drink and Elijah gave her a tissue and left her with a smile.
Six months later, Elijah and Klaus were with a werewolf named Lana who was the Queen of the Crescent Wolf Clan. Klaus talked of how werewolves, vampires, and witches and dirty cops were happy as clams and drunk as stoats. Elijah told him of the two new Era-collaboration in the face of prohibition. Elijah gave them drinks of shots and they all drunk. Elijah hugged Klaus and told him who would have thought it possible for the unification in New Orleans? Klaus grasped his shoulder and Elijah put an arm around his shoulder and whirled him around to overlook the scene before him. Elijah said, “Oh, certainly we worked together, Niklaus, this vision; this was all you.” Elijah and Klaus sat drank until they saw Rebekah and Marcel come. Klaus knew they were a pair. Elijah told him not to cause trouble, but to his surprise, Klaus allowed them to be together and sat with Elijah.
The next day, Elijah entered Klaus’ room and saw Lana and joked of him sleeping with the enemy who was now their ally. Klaus told Elijah they got tickets to the opera house and asked to tell Rebekah to bring Marcel with her. Elijah then left them.
When Elijah was getting ready for the opera, Mikael visited him and told him he saw the Le Grand Guignol piece in Venus. Elijah was shocked seeing him and Mikael told him, he only wished to talk. Elijah told him that he had hunted them for centuries and laid waste to half of Europe. Mikael corrected him that he only hunted Klaus and never his true children. He told him Elijah’s his blood and that he’s proud to call him his son. Mikael then asked him to help him kill Klaus. Elijah in rage attacked him only to be thrown against the wall. Elijah then told him that if he thought Elijah would betray Klaus for him, then he was a fool without equal. Mikael then told him that he’d forgive Elijah for his love for his brother, but told him that he needed to realize as he once did, when he learned that his mother had laid with a beast to beget. He told Elijah, “Niklaus is an abomination. You do not talk to abominations. You do not reason with them. Do not try to change them. You ERASE THEM.” Mikael then showed him the White Oak stake. Elijah tried to stop him but Mikael forced him against the wall and told him that either he stands with him or fall with Klaus. After Elijah chose Klaus, Mikael staked him with a normal wooden stake. After Elijah was awake, he rushed to the opera house and saw Mikael at the stage as he was feeding from Marcel. Elijah urged his siblings to flee the scene and Mikael then burned down the opera house and continued to hunt for his children. Elijah, Klaus, and Rebekah were a few blocks away. Elijah told Klaus and Rebekah to flee while he delayed Mikael for a brief time.
In the 1920's, Katherine was in Chicago at the same time as Stefan, but she only observed him from afar. After a police raid cleared out the speakeasy, Katherine spotted Rebekah's necklace on the ground. She moved to pick it up, but ran away before Stefan could see or notice her. She watched him for a few moments before slipping into the shadows.
During the 1970's, Katherine employed the talents of the vampire Will, who owned the music club and bar, Billy's, and ran an identity theft ring that secured new identities for vampires. Damon, who was friends with Will and helped him by killing people to steal their ID cards, unwittingly helped Katherine in her mission to remain undetected.
When Katherine learned of the escape of the Tomb vampires, she gave her descendant and friend, Isobel, a Lapis Lazuli medallion, enabling the young vampire to walk in the sun. Katherine needed the tomb vampires dead because she didn't want Klaus to find out she was still alive, so she had Isobel retrieve Jonathan Gilbert's invention and give it to John Gilbert to use against the vampires in Mystic Falls. This resulted in the deaths of the remaining tomb vampires.
When everyone knew that Katherine was in town, Katherine played as Elena and turned Caroline into a vampire. She drove Damon and Stefan insane. They wanted Katherine dead. And when Elena and Jeremy's Uncle John whom was later found to be Elena's biological father came to town, she used a knife to cut some of his fingers off which landed him in the hospital. Then, after Vicki bit Elena on the shoulder and tried to bite Jeremy on Halloween night, Stefan staked Vicki which killed her.
In 2010 in Mystic Falls, Elijah came to collect Elena, the present day doppelganger, but did not succeed. He did however; succeed in killing Trevor for him helping Katerina all those years ago. He spared Rose though, believing that killing Trevor was punishment enough for her, since she had loved Trevor very much. Then, later on, he made a deal with Elena that he wouldn’t harm her or her family, in exchange in making a plan to kill Klaus. Then, in the tomb, he compelled Katherine to stay there, but she was freed from the tomb when Alaric Saltzman daggered Elijah during desert. Elijah was going to go through with killing Klaus, but couldn’t since Klaus told him that he knew where his siblings were and that he’d never find them if he killed him.
When Klaus, a werewolf-vampire hybrid, came to town, Katherine helped the good guys find a way to try and take him down. Before they found out how to kill him though, he killed Jenna, a werewolf named Jules, and Elena. Because John sacrificed himself so Elena wouldn't become a vampire, Elena woke up human. Alaric then took over as Elena and Jeremy's guardian. During that time, Alaric started to date Meredith Fell, one of the doctors that worked at the hospital.
Not long afterward, Tyler bit Damon. Because a werewolf's bite is deadly to vampires, Damon slowly started to die, so Stefan gave himself up to Klaus to save his brother's life. Klaus had Katherine bring the cure, Klaus' blood, to Damon. She did and he was saved, but it took a very long time for them to get Stefan back. Damon wanted to give up on him, but Elena never gave up hope. During this time, Caroline and Tyler fell in love even after they knew what one another was.
After they tried to kill Klaus and Klaus killed Mikael, Katherine left so she wouldn't be crushed by him; in other words, be killed after 500 years of running and hiding from him. They never saw her in Mystic Falls again. Not very long after that, Stefan went back to being himself after Klaus released him from Klaus' compulsion. Then Klaus' family was undaggered and they were reunited. Klaus soon became obsessed with getting Elena's blood so he could make hybrids. Tyler was the first hybrid that he made.
When Katherine killed Jeremy to get the cure for vampirism from Silas, it crushed Elena, so Damon had to use his sire bond to have Elena turn her humanity off. She did and she became a reckless vampiress. She didn't care except to get the cure from Katherine so it couldn't be used against her. Elijah intercepted Katherine and Katherine revealed to Elijah what she had done, but he had so much Faith that the innocent girl he had fallen for all those years ago was still inside her, that he still trusted her. She even gave Elijah the cure and Elijah went to Mystic Falls with Rebekah, his only sister.
In 2012, Elijah found out that their mother planned to kill them all and that Elena had lied to him. So, he made a plan to undo the binding spell that Esther had put in motion. He and his siblings afterward, except for Kol, tried to kill Esther but failed. Before Esther was able to make Ric into a weapon later on, it was Ric who succeeded in killing her. In the end though, Ric died and everyone was left devastated.
In 2013, Elijah went to meet Katherine in New York, but was tricked by Elena. It took him just a few seconds to realize that it was Elena. Later, when he and Katherine met up, she was going to make a deal for him to help her use the cure for her freedom from Klaus. By now, they had rekindled their relationship that they had had when they had first met centuries ago. Through his affection for her, he helped her, but when he found out by Elena that she had killed Jeremy, he got upset about her lies. Katherine tried to explain herself, but Elijah’s distrust of her made it hard for him to go along with her plans. She finally gave him the cure though, proving herself to him and telling him that she truly did love him. She just had lied so many times and ran for so long that she didn’t remember who she had been when they first met. She said she wanted to find out, though. She said that she trusted him and she liked to think that he felt something for her too and that she wanted him to trust her like she trusted him.
In 2014, Elijah last saw Katherine as a vampire still, when she was at the Mikaelson mansion speaking to him. He told her that he had to go to New Orleans to help Klaus with some witches. She told him “Please, Elijah,” asking for him to stay. He said, “Good-bye, Katerina” and kissed her forehead, before he went to New Orleans. And that is the last that he has seen or heard of Katherine. He never checked in with her, because of everything that he has been through in New Orleans, trying to establish peace amongst the factions and later, fighting a war against the vampires and werewolves alongside Klaus.
After Elijah left town, Katherine and Elena had a fight in the high school hallway and Katherine tried to kill her, so Elena shoved the cure down her throat. Then everyone tried to figure out why Silas wanted Katherine for. And when he came to town, Katherine met up with her daughter, Nadia Petrova who was the one to fill her in. Apparently, since Katherine was human, the cure was still inside her and Silas needed the cure, so he could die and join the Other Side to be with his love from centuries ago. Amara.
A few days later, Damon promised Katherine that he would protect her from Silas, but then he ended up handing her over to him. She fought over the wheel with Jeremy though and the car crashed and Jeremy almost died and Katherine got away. Then Silas found another way to find her and Katherine went back to hanging around Damon and Elena. Because they had a lead, the three of them went on a road trip to a bar where a vampire wanted Katherine. Then, after the vampiress escaped with Katherine, she kept Katherine safe from Silas. And in the meantime, the Salvatore brothers and Elena found out by Qetsiyah that Stefan is Silas' doppelganger and she could use Stefan and a spell to make Silas vulnerable. Qetsiyah did that and succeeded. Silas was no longer able to read minds. But then Silas learned how to use a GPS on a phone, which let him know where Katherine and the vampiress were at. Then, a little bit later, Katherine escaped after injuring the vampiress with a part of a cane, and later found her in a dark alley with the piece of cane still in her. And that's when she learned the true identity of the vampiress. The vampiress' name was “Nadia Petrova and you are my mother.” It shocked Katherine and she nursed Nadia back to herself again, before leaving her behind to go stay at the boarding house again.
After they found a way to kill Silas with doppelganger blood and magic, Stefan finally was able to kill Silas himself. But because Qetsiyah was dying from the injuries Silas had inflicted upon her, the last spell she did was to make Bonnie the anchor to the Other Side. She didn't have enough strength left afterward to help Katherine so she wouldn't die of old age so quickly because of whatever the cure did to her. So she died and Bonnie became the anchor to the Other Side. And now it's very painful to Bonnie when something supernatural dies and has to pass through her to get to the Other Side.
After Katherine came to college where Caroline and Elena were staying at, Katherine helped Caroline by making everyone think that Elena's not a vampire. And then she realized that her hair was turning gray and she lost a tooth. So, she did something she didn't want to do. She enlisted Dr. Wells, the professor at the college, to help her figure out how to cure her. She knew he knew about vampires, so she figured that he could help her out one way or another. He couldn't though, so she did something else that Katherine Pierce would never have done if she could help it. She left a note at the boarding house for Nadia and went to the clock tower in Mystic Falls where she jumped to commit suicide. But then Stefan found the note, found Katherine, and caught her before she could hit the sidewalk. And that's when she told him what was going on. He figured that writing her thoughts down in a journal would help, but she complained to him that it wasn't helping. And in the meantime, Caroline and Katherine helped Stefan overcome reliving his episode of drowning over and over again in a safe in the river that happened six months or so ago. It worked and afterward, Katherine and Stefan made love.
Soon after, on her way to find a traveler to help her live longer, Katherine had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. Stefan told Nadia that he didn't think she would make it this time around. She made it through, only to die a few weeks later alongside her daughter. She never got to the Other Side though, because she was dragged into a black hole, when she tried to get to the Other Side. So, everyone assumes that she was taken to hell.
I'll Bring You Back To Me (Kalijah)
Here we are out here, me and you
Reaching out to each other
Is all that we can do
Here we stand trying not to fall
There’s no need to worry
Love will conquer all
It was a dismal night at the Mikaelson place, as a human Kat fought against Julian. To avoid him from harming the Salvatores, she’d lured him here. She’d always loved Damon, but Elijah was the one for her. She didn’t want them dead, so her plan was to get rid of Julian. Just in case she failed though, she’d brought him here. She knew Elijah wouldn’t fail. He was an Original, after all. That, and if Julian killed her, she knew he’d rip Julian’s heart out.
After half an hour of fighting, Julian rammed the sword into her, killing her, which Elijah arrived in enough time to see.
“No!”
Elijah immediately blurred towards him and, before Julian could pull the sword out of her to use it on Elijah, Elijah ripped his heart out.
Elijah pulled the sword out of her and tossed it to the floor. He then knelt at her side and gently pulled her into his arms.
“Katerina,” was all he could say.
He looked down at her in grief, but after a few minutes, he composed himself, not letting himself break down. He had to get her out of the Phoenix stone. Having found out about Freya through Rebekah and Klaus in New Orleans, he called Freya, needing her help.
Once he told her everything, she agreed to help, and left town to go to Mystic Falls.
Elijah gently layed her down on the kitchen table and awaited her arrival.
Do you really want to know
Just how long we’ll last
Will all of the bad times pass?
How can we make things right?
Ooh and why, why is the world so unkind?
Meanwhile, Kat woke up to find herself in the cabin the night her parents were slaughtered by Klaus.
She got to her feet, realizing this. She wouldn’t give in to whatever it wanted to do to her. Besides, she already knew what happened to them was partly her fault, but also partly Klaus’ fault. She’d ran, and he’d slaughtered them.
She turned around to leave, only to see her father.
“It’s all your fault, Katerina. Everyone you cared about died because of you. You killed your family. You killed Pearl and Anna. You killed your friends. You killed Emily. You killed your parents. All of our deaths are on your hands.”
“No,” she denied. “I was doing what I had to to survive.”
“You lost yourself along the way, Katerina. You say that, so you don’t have to feel guilty for getting your friends and family killed. You need something, so you can sleep at night, so you tell yourself that, because the truth is too painful. Everything you touch dies.”
She couldn’t deny the part about losing herself and that she’d killed people. She’d lost herself. She’d even killed some she didn’t have to kill. She’d thought at the time though, that she was doing what she had to. Survival had been everything to her. Her father was wrong about Pearl and Anna, though. She hadn’t had any hand in killing them. That had been just John.
“You’re wrong,” she denied, disagreeing with the parts that were wrong. Then she left the cabin.
A moment later, she was in Mystic Falls at the Mikaelson place. She recognized what was happening. This was when he’d chosen between her and Klaus. In reality, he’d chosen her, but this was another version.
She watched, as Elijah walked away. Then he was gone, and Damon was suddenly there.
Damon approached her.
“My love was never enough for you, was it? Now you’ve lost the one person that would’ve done anything for you. You hurt everyone around you. You’ll never change, Katherine. You ruined me and neither of us can take that back.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I was trying to protect you. Elijah would never leave and I’m not naive. I know that I’ve hurt people. I have regrets. I wish I could’ve been there for you, but I was different as a vampire. I can’t take back the bad I did, but as a human, I get a second chance. I have my true love and I’ve already changed. I always loved you, but Elijah has always been the one.” She rested a hand on the side of his face. “I’m so sorry, Damon.” She put her hand down.
“Then prove that you regret everything and let go. I’ll help you find liberation. Let go of everything holding you back from being who you really are, deep down.”
“Never,” she stubbornly replied.
“You’ll break soon enough, Katherine. It’s just a matter of time.”
We surely can find peace of mind
If we only see the light
Can’t you see that?
Can somebody tell me why?
Why do our dreams go wrong?
Why can’t we all get along?
Oh where did we start?
Oh and tell me when
When will we ever learn
There’s nowhere else we can turn
The truth is in our hearts
Here we are together
Meanwhile, Freya and Elijah were by the table he’d layed her on.
Elijah silently watched, as she did what she could to bring her back. It had to be as soon as possible, since she hadn’t dealt with a lot of things she’d done. He knew she had regrets, but things she’d done and that she’d had to go through, she hadn’t dealt with it, apart from when his brother had killed her family. She’d always ignored her past, instead of dealing.
Sometimes the road gets hard to travel
Sometimes the pain’s too much to bare
Sometimes when life seems to unravel
That’s the time oh to say
We’re gonna make it anyway
Can’t you see that?
After a few hours, Freya finally got her magically back into her body.
When Katherine woke up, she was in her and Elijah’s room, Elijah seated on her bedside.
She sat up.
“You did it.”
He rested a hand on the side of her face.
“Of course, Katerina.”
They smiled at each other and then kissed.

Devil Inside/Farewell To Storyville
Caroline and Elena were downstairs by a table talking about the fact that Caroline had had sex with Klaus in the woods, when Tyler came down the stairs and overheard.
“Oh, my God,” Elena said, seeing Tyler.
Caroline turned to see Tyler.
He gave her a look, before walking away through a crowd of people.
Caroline watched him go until she couldn’t see him anymore. She then left Elena to take care of the mess she had just made.
When she found him, he was in a room drinking, clearly drunk and emotionally hurt. He had his back turned to her, standing in front of a table.
“Get out.”
She took a step towards him.
“Just let me explain,” she pleaded.
“No. Let me. Klaus killed thousands of people. Elena’s aunt, an entire pack of hybrids; my friends! Caroline, he killed my mom!”
She took another step.
“I know. I know. I am so sorry.”
He through the empty shot glass at the wall and turned around to face her.
“Just stop. I walked out last time. Now it’s your turn.”
She was standing less than a foot away from him now and took another step.
“No.”
“Don’t take another step, Caroline!” he yelled.
“If you would just—,"she started, but he cut her off.
“I said leave!” he yelled with a growl, going all hybrid face on her.
A moment later, both realized that he had accidentally bitten her.
She looked at him in fear.
His face was back to normal now.
“Care…”
“Don’t,” she said, as she felt the venom.
Katherine walked in, having overheard, and so wanted to slap him, but refrained from doing so.
“Nice going. Now she really needs Klaus,” she said to him, before putting a hand on her upper left arm, guiding her out. “Let’s get you to Klaus,” she said, as she guided her out.
Three hours later, she entered New Orleans, Caroline out cold with a cool wet washcloth on her forehead, dying, Katherine driving her SUV as fast as she could. Luckily, she had already been ready to visit New Orleans, before Caroline had been bitten by her ex.
As soon as she parked in front of the cemetery where Hayley had told her he was, she took the cloth off and set it on the dashboard. She hated leaving her, but she had to.
“I’ll be right back. Don’t die on me.”
She rushed into the cemetery and searched for Klaus.
“Rebekah!” she heard him call out.
She followed his and Elijah’s voices.
When she caught sight of them, she walked briskly towards them.
“You’re gonna wanna postpone your sibling rivalry. She needs you,” she said to Klaus.
Both brothers looked at her.
“Katerina?” Elijah questioned.
“Who?” Klaus asked, though he had a good guess who it was.
“Caroline. She’s in my car.”
He followed her to the entrance and Kat, knowing he couldn’t leave the cemetery, went to Caroline’s side. She opened the door and put an arm around her, getting her to her feet, using her body weight to hold her up.
Once he could get to her, he took her from Katerina. He layed her down on the ground and knelt by her, pulling her gently into his arms and biting his wrist, putting his wrist to her lips, making his blood go down her throat.
Kat walked over to Elijah.
“Whatever’s going on in Klaus’ head, you should probably get Rebekah out of here as far as possible, while he’s wrapped up in saving her life,” she said, before going into the place that the witches hung out at, because of the cemetery being filled with their dead ancestors.
“Sophie?” she called, as she walked inside.
The witch came in from a room.
“Katherine.”
“I need you to do a favor for me,” she told her.
“That depends on what it is.”
“I need you to find a spell that will stop me from dying faster than a normal human. My doppelganger shoved the cure down my throat when I tried to kill her. I was mad, and I took it out on her. There has to be a way that you can help me. I’m dying due to turning 500 years ago.”
“I’ll see what I can find out.”
“Thank you,” she replied to the witch.
A few minutes after finding a spell to stop what the cure had and was doing to the former vampiress, the spell was completed, and Katherine wasn’t dying anymore.
Afterward, Kat left the cemetery, but stayed in New Orleans.
When it was dark, the Originals and Caroline were gone, so she went for a drive around the city to see if it had changed or not since less than 100 years ago when she had last visited.
“Oh, my God,” Elena said, seeing Tyler.

Gone Girl (3rd revised version)
It was a dark night in New Orleans, as Elijah stood by his window, phone to his ear, in silent grief. His Katerina was dead, according to Caroline Forbes.
“Thank you,” was all he could say before hanging up, thanking her for letting him know.
As he stood there, he could only wonder if she died in pain, and if she had died hating him for not coming to save her. He would’ve if he had known what was happening. He had been too busy with helping Klaus and protecting Hayley to even think about Katerina, or even wonder why Klaus had come back from Mystic Falls in a good mood. He knew he should’ve checked on Katerina, but he hadn’t. Now, it was too late and because of that, he would forever blame himself for not being there for her, and he would forever grieve for her. Katerina was the kind of girl that would take forever to get over. He would forever miss her.
“I’m sorry, Katerina. Forgive me,” he said to empty air, not sure what he was asking forgiveness for. Was it for leaving her, when she had pleaded for him to stay? Was it to give her spirit peace? Was it for all the wrongs he had done to her? Was it for not being there for her, when she needed him the most? He guessed it was for everything and more. Now that she was forever gone, he didn’t know what he’d do for eternity. Katerina had been what kept him holding on to his humanity, and he guessed he was the same for her. For 500 years, he had kept her safe from Klaus. No matter what, he had kept hoping that she would find herself, but what if he was who needed to help her do that? He had abandoned her. Left her all on her own after watching out for her for 500 years. How could he do that to her? Worse, he hadn’t been there when she had needed him the most. He had royally and completely screwed up, and he couldn’t fix his mistake this time.
As he looked out the window, he wanted to cry, but he didn’t. He wouldn’t let anyone know he was hurting, because no one knew how he felt. This was his own hell. He was upset that he had lost her forever but was also angry at himself for not checking on her. He couldn’t change the past though, so all he could do was grieve for her. His 500-year-old true love. The one. For him, she had been the one.
“Thank you,” was all he could say before hanging up, thanking her for letting him know.

Gone Girl (1st revised version)/Le Grand Guignol
It was a dark night, as Katherine Pierce drove to New Orleans, her daughter, Nadia Petrova, in the passenger’s seat, pale, weak, and out cold. And as she drove, she called someone on her phone.
Elijah Mikaelson was at home in Klaus’ room, when his phone went off. And when he looked at the caller ID, he saw that it was Katerina.
“Katerina,” he greeted her. “This isn’t a good time.”
“I need your help. My daughter is dying. Tyler bit my daughter, Nadia Petrova.”
“I was unaware that you had a daughter.”
“I gave birth to her before I met any of you. You have to help me convince Klaus to cure my daughter.”
“I promise you that she will be cured. I won’t let her die.”
“Thank you, Elijah.”
They hung up.
When they arrived, it was a beautiful day in New Orleans.
Kat went around the car and opened the door, as Hayley came out to help her.
“Do you need any help?” Hayley asked her.
“Yes. Please. Help me get her inside.”
Once she was in bed in a room, Nadia started to come to. And when she did, she saw her mother seated on her bedside, a pregnant lady standing not far from them.
“Where are we?” she half-whispered.
“New Orleans. Elijah promised that he’d get the cure for you.”
“Why would he even bother?”
“Because we go way back, and even after a few centuries, we have something. Elijah would do anything for me.”
“We should stay then if he means so much to you. You haven’t been happy for centuries. You deserve it.”
“I’m happy with you, too. We’ve finally found each other.”
Elijah walked in and gave the cure to her.
“Thank you, Elijah.”
“You’re welcome, Katerina. Now, I must tend to a family matter.”
He kissed her left cheek, before vanishing out of sight.
Kat smiled, before giving her daughter the cure, which Nadia took.
“I should go. I’ll be in the Bayou if anyone needs me,” Hayley informed Katherine, before leaving the room.
Kat watched her go, before looking at her daughter whom had drunk the entire cure and had sat up in bed.
“Welcome to New Orleans, Nadia,” she said to her with a smile.

Under (Kalijah)
Don’t bury me
Don’t lay me down
Don’t say it’s over
‘Cause that’s what sent me under

I died
Every time you walk away
It was a dark night in Mystic Falls, Virginia at the Mikaelson Mansion as Katherine Pierce watched Elijah Mikaelson, her love of 500 years, walk away after choosing his family over her, yet again. She didn’t show it, but it hurt her deeply that once again, he hadn’t chosen her. Her unbeating, vampiress heart was broken in two. After everything she had done, she realized that he had lost his faith and hope in her.
Don’t leave me alone with me
See
I’m afraid
Of the darkness
And my demons
And the voices
Saying nothing’s going to be okay
I feel it in my heart
Soul
Mind that I’m losing
Six months later, a very human and dying Katherine lay asleep in a guest bedroom at the Salvatore boarding house, stuck in her memories. The first was of finding her family slaughtered and crying over her ma’ma’s body, before fleeing to escape Klaus.
You
Me
You’re abusing everything I have to live
Don’t bury me
Don’t lay me down
Don’t say it’s over
‘Cause that’s what sent me under
Underneath the ground
Don’t say those words
I wanna live with your worse combunder
Only you can send me under
Under
When she had died, Elijah got a call from Caroline Forbes and Elijah came for her body and, upon returning to New Orleans, he buried her in the cemetery and consecrated her bones, having learned that she had been descended from Travelers.

If I Die Young (Kalijah)
If I die young
Bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river
At dawn
Send me away with words of a love song
It was a dark night in New Orleans, as Elijah Mikaelson got ready to leave Mystic Falls, Virginia to try and save Katerina Petrova, his love of 500 years. It didn’t matter that he had broken up with her. He still was very much in love with her, and his love could never die. He had done everything for her, but she wasn’t who she used to be anymore. Last time he had seen her, she had lied to him, yet again. That had been enough for him, and he had walked away. Even though he had hope for her, he needed to be there for his family, so he had left her in Mystic Falls. She had been a vampire when he had broken up with her. He had just heard from Mystic Falls though, that she was human and had taken a tragic turn for the worse. He may have broken up with her, but he knew he had to save her, no matter what. It was his flaw. He saw something or someone that needed fixed, and he couldn’t help but try and fix it or that someone. Even though it was Katerina’s fault for becoming human, it wasn’t her fault for dying of old age. No matter what, she didn’t deserve this. No one did. He hoped that he wasn’t too late to save her. He still loved her, after all.
When he entered the Salvatore boarding house and found his way to the room she was in, he knew she didn’t have much time left. She was weak from dying and he saw Damon on her bedside, tormenting her in her head. He wanted to rip his heart out, but he didn’t. He was better than that.
He walked in.
“Enough.”
Damon stopped and turned around to see Elijah, now on his feet.
“Who called you?” he asked.
“Someone named Nadia. Now, if you’d be so kind as to leave, I won’t harm you for tormenting her on her deathbed.”
Damon left, and Elijah went to sit on her bedside.
He took her hand in his and looked down at her.
“Katerina,” he greeted.
Hearing her human name, she opened her eyes and looked up to see Elijah.
“You came.”
She smiled.
He smiled back.
She rested a gentle hand on the side of his face.
“I was afraid I’d be too late to say goodbye.”
“I’m a fighter, and I was waiting for you. I wasn’t going to die without seeing you for the last time.”
“I wish I could stop this, but I know now that I’m too late to help you.”
“By being here with me, you’ve helped me enough. You being here gives me peace. Promise me, Elijah, that when I’m gone, you’ll take good care of Nadia. I never got to be a mother she deserves, but she needs to go to New Orleans with you. She never knew her father and you would be the best father she could ever ask for. Just take care of my daughter.”
“I promise I’ll take care of Nadia,” he promised. He hadn’t realized Nadia who had called him was Katerina’s daughter. He’d find out how it was possible later.
“Thank you. I love you, Elijah.”
“I love you, too, Katerina. Always and forever.”
She smiled and then closed her eyes.
His heart broke, knowing he was too late. Just a little too late. He wanted to cry but wouldn’t. Not now. Not here.
He silently left the room and he and Nadia went to New Orleans, where they buried her in the cemetery.

Give Me A Reason (Kalijah)
*1492, England*
Right from the start
You were a thief
You stole my heart
And I your willing victim
“Are you so foolish as to care for her?” Klaus asked Elijah. “Love is a vampire’s greatest weakness, and we are not weak.”
Elijah knew he was right, but his heart already belonged to Katerina. He couldn’t help it.
*1492, England-Mikaelson Estate*
I let you see the parts of me
That weren’t all that pretty
And with every touch you fixed them
It was a beautiful day, as Elijah and Katerina sat on a bench, discussing love.
“I do not believe in love, Katerina,” he told her.
“I’m sorry, but that’s too sad for me to believe, my Lord. Life is too cruel. If we cease to believe in love, why would we want to live?”
*Pennsylvania*
Now you’ve been talking in your sleep
Oh, oh
Things you never say to me
Oh, oh
Tell me that you’ve had enough
Of our love
Our love
Elijah began to walk away after telling her goodbye, this time using her present-day name, Katherine.
“Wait,” she told him. “You promised you’d talk to Klaus. I can’t make this deal without you.”
He looked at her, and then continued to walk away.
*Pennsylvania-night*
Just give me a reason
Just a little bit’s enough
Just a second, we’re not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
“I meant what I said about my feelings for you. And I’d like to think that you feel something for me, too. I need you to trust me. I want you to trust me…just like I’m trusting you,” she told him.
*Mikaelson Mansion*
It’s in the stars
It’s been written in the scars on our hearts
We’re not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
“It’s our turn, Elijah. Please,” she begged.
“Goodbye, Katerina,” was all he said, before disappearing.
*New Orleans-6 Months Later*
Elijah stood there at the door, seeing a very human and disheveled Katerina on the Mikaelson doorstep.
“Come in.”
She walked in and he closed the door. No matter what, he still loved her, and would do anything for her.
I’ll fix it for us
We’re collecting dust
But our love’s enough
You’re holding it in
You’re pouring a drink
No nothing is as bad as it seems
We’ll come clean
Oh
We can learn to love again
Oh
We can learn to love again
Oh, oh
That we’re not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again…
Right from the start
You were a thief
You stole my heart

Apologize (Kalijah)
*England 1492, Cabin*
I’m holdin’ on your rope
Got me ten feet off the ground
And I’m hearin’ what you say
But I just can’t make a sound
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me down
While Rose and Elijah were arguing, Katerina Petrova, seeing no way out but death, and seeing that there was a rope hanging from the ceiling, hung herself by length of rope.
Rose and Elijah looked to see what she had done, which stopped them arguing.
But wait…
You tell me that you’re sorry
When Katerina woke up, she saw that she was on the bed with Elijah standing over her, and sat up in bed, realizing that she was in transition to become a vampire.
“Why’d you do it? I would’ve helped you escape.”
“No. You would’ve helped me run and that wouldn’t have been enough,” she replied.
They got to their feet and Rose tried to kill her with a stake, but she put the old woman who owned the cabin, in front of her which resulted in Rose accidentally staking the woman.
“Don’t you see? She used your love for her against you,” Rose said.
“I’m sorry. Forgive me,” Katerina said to him, before feeding from the woman. Then she through the woman’s body at Rose and fled from the cabin at vamp speed.
*Pennsylvania, 2013/2014*
Didn’t think I’d turn around
And say…
That it’s too late to apologize
It’s too late…
I said it’s too late to apologize
It’s too late, too late, oh, oh
Katherine Pierce snapped Elena’s neck from behind and looked at Elijah.
“Sorry, I got held up.”
“You killed Jeremy Gilbert.”
“Yes, Elijah, I killed Jeremy Gilbert, a bombshell I’m sure she just couldn’t wait to drop on you. Ironic, since she supposedly doesn’t care about anything.”
“Well, I care. Do you honestly feel nothing for this girl, a girl fated to live the same life that you’ve endured? And now you’ve just taken away the last of her family, just as yours was taken away from you.”
“Uh, why are you looking at me like I enjoyed it?” she questioned, and then he started walking away. She followed him. “Jeremy was collateral damage. I was doing what I had to do to survive.”
He stopped and looked at her.
“Is that what I am to you? A means of survival?”
“No. Of course, you’re not a means of survival. You looked out for me when I had no one. You’ve given me a second chance now, when no one else will. I love you. Elijah.” He pulled his face away and she put her hands down. “You don’t believe me.”
“I want to. It’s my disease. I just keep wanting to believe you, but how can I when, at every turn, you give me a reason to doubt you? I don’t know you. I don’t think that I ever will.”
He began to walk away, and she followed him again.
“Wait. You gave me your word that you would talk to Klaus. I can’t make a deal without you."
He stopped and looked at her again.
“Goodbye, Katherine.”
She watched, as he walked away from her.
*Night*
Elijah was walking down a sidewalk, when Kat approached him.
He started to pass her, but she stopped him with a hand on his arm.
“Wait.”
“What do you want?” he asked her.
“To tell you that you’re right. I’ve spent so much time running and lying just to survive that I don’t—I’m starting to believe my own lies. I don’t even remember who I was when we first met. And I want to find out.”
She took a small black box out of her purse.
“You have the cure,” he stated.
“Yeah. And I can show this down Klaus’ throat and try to kill him, but even if I managed to do it…I’d lose you. And I don’t want that to happen.”
“How do I know this isn’t another lie? Katherine Pierce deceiving yet another man.”
She took his hand and put the box in it, holding hers over it. “Because I meant what I said about my feelings for you. And I’d like to think that you feel something for me, too. I need you to trust me. I want you to trust me…just like I’m trusting you. You don’t owe me anything. I’m gonna let you decide where we go from here.” She passed him and walked away.
He opened it and looked at the cure, and then closed it and crossed the street, where Rebekah was perched on his parked car.
*Mystic Falls, Mikaelson Mansion, 2014*
I’d take another chance
Take a fall, take a shot for you, oh, oh
It was a dark night, as Katherine stood in front of Elijah at the Mikaelson mansion.
“Be smart, Elijah. Klaus is stark raving mad, not to mention completely irredeemable. Leave him to set off on this new adventure, and let’s you and I go on ours. I have lost so much of my life to Klaus. So, have you,” she said, as she looked up at him. He had just told her that he was leaving to help Klaus in New Orleans. She rested her hands soothingly on his arm. “It’s our turn, Elijah. Please.”
“Katerina…” He placed a hand on her cheek and drew his face to hers, before kissing her forehead. “Goodbye.”
She stood there silently after he had vanished, upset about his choice, and felt that it was Elena’s fault.
*I Know What You Did Last Summer/House of the Rising Son*
It was a dismal night, as Katherine walked towards the plantation home where the Mikaelsons were staying at in New Orleans. It had been a long and hellish summer for her, not knowing if one of her supernatural enemies would come around the next corner. Because she had been so angry that she had tried to kill Elena, Elena had shoved the cure for vampirism down her throat. Now Katherine was human, homeless, hungry, tired, and dirty. Her hair hadn’t seen a brush all summer and she had been a vampire for so long, she didn’t know how to be human. Now she saw herself as a worthless, weak, slow, and fearful human. She kind of was. Supernatural beings were stronger and faster than humans, and she was afraid. Now she was about to ask an Original for help. She hadn’t been able to reach Elijah, so she was going to her worse enemy; her greatest enemy, for help and protection. She had thought about what deal she would make with him and figured it would work.
She stood outside and knocked on the door.
A moment later, the door opened to reveal the devil in disguise. A very angry and worked up Klaus. Rebekah and Hayley were in the background, Hayley getting her breath back, and Rebekah looking angry at Klaus.
“I can’t get a hold of Elijah, so I’m coming to you for help. You’re the most powerful thing on earth, and I’ve gotten myself in the worst-case scenario. I’ll make a deal with you,” she said, before he could say anything.
He gave an amusing smile, amused that the once powerful vampire was now a worthless human.
“You are the most hilarious sight,” he said, chuckling.
He stepped aside, and she walked in.
He closed the door and they faced each other.
“I’m out of here. Try not to kill the Wolf Girl,” Rebekah said, before leaving.
Hayley went to her room, while Klaus and Katherine talked in the parlor.
“I’m glad you find my misery so amusing,” Kat commented.
“It’s not every day I find my former doppelgänger on my doorstep,” he replied. “What deal do you want to make, luv? I have an old friend to take down.”
“It’s simple, really. I help you make an army of hybrids and in return, you give me protection. In the end, you let me have my happiness with Elijah, and give me freedom from you.”
“You raise a high bargain. I like it. Deal.”
So, in the end, Elijah was saved, and Klaus let them have their happiness.
*The Casket Girls/50 Days of Grayson*
It was a dark night, as Kat headed down the stairs to get something to drink. Everyone at the compound was asleep after everything. Davina had attacked Klaus, Marcel, and Elijah so she had had to talk Davina out of it. After that, everything had been quiet.
Suddenly, halfway down the stairs, pain surged from her left arm and traveled to the left side of her chest. She put a hand on the left side of her chest. She didn’t know what was happening but assumed this was it.
A moment later, she tumbled down the stairs and everything went black.
A few minutes later, Elijah came home from having a drink at the bar, only to see her on the floor on her back.
“Katerina.”
He was instantly at her side.
*Après Moi Le Delunge/ 500 Years of Solitude*
Elijah stood in a hallway, as he watched the doctors try to revive her. He couldn’t lose her. Not when they had only just begun to have the life they had always wanted together. She was his hope and light. He couldn’t bear the thought of the world existing without her in it.
Twenty minutes later, they revived her, and she was sent to bedrest at home. The doctors didn’t think she’d make it through the night.
I need you like a heart needs a beat
But it’s nothin’ new, yeah!
I loved you with a fire red
Now it’s turnin’ blue
And you say…
Sorry, like an angel
Heaven let me think was you
But I’m afraid
Knowing she was close to death, it broke his heart. He was afraid to let her go for the very last time, but he couldn’t do anything but watch her die. All he could do was spend time with her during her last moments.
He sat down on her bedside and gave her a smile.
She smiled back.
“I’m sorry you have to watch me die. I know how much it hurts,” she told him.
“Close your eyes, Katerina.”
“But I want to see you.”
“You will.”
She closed her eyes, as did he, and he went inside her head, giving her the happiest moment that he could, until she finally died.
He left her head.
It’s too late to apologize
It’s too late
I said it’s too late to apologize
It’s too late.

The Girl Who Waited (Kat's POV)
My name is Katherine Pierce and I’m a former vampiress. I have had a very hard life for 500 years, because I chose to run instead of being sacrificed in a ritual by a hybrid named Klaus Mikaelson who prefers to be called Klaus. For 500 years, I ran and stayed one step ahead of him. In the meantime, his elder brother, Elijah Mikaelson, and I were in love, but because of Klaus, we couldn’t be together. Klaus is so paranoid that his siblings will leave him; break the promise they have kept for 1,000 years, “We stick together, always and forever,” that people who his siblings fall for, he kills. I’ve made many enemies that have kept me from being happy and having a life that I’ve always wanted. I thought Klaus was the worse I could and would ever encounter, but I was wrong. There was an immortal by the name of Silas. He killed me, but I came back to life somehow. He killed me because he needed the cure for vampirism and it was inside of me, because Elena Gilbert, my doppelganger, shoved it down my throat on Graduation night when I was so angry that I tried to kill her, because I hate her for getting the life I always wanted. Now, because I screwed Elena over, I’m dying of old age. The cure did something to me. I can’t digest vampire blood and I assume I’m dying of old age because I turned 500 years ago. You want to know what the worst part is? I’m alone in this. I’m surrounded by those that hate me and Elijah doesn’t know what happened to me. If he did, he’d be here, right? So now, all I can do is wait. I wait for his return but know it may be too late and I may not be able to be saved. This is the story of a girl that waits for her long-lost love to return.
It’s a dark night in the Salvatore boarding house, as I lay in bed. Nadia has just left the house, made that I’d rather die than be in her body as a Traveler. Stefan has left too after giving me some peace, and Damon is trying to make me miserable. Why must he do this? I didn’t do this when I was a vampire and he was dying from a werewolf bite. He goes in my head, first visiting my nightmare from 500 years ago when I first turned; the night I found my family and village slaughtered in Bulgaria. Then he goes in my head, making me think that Elijah came for me, but it’s really just Damon. All I want is for this misery to end and Damon won’t stop. I demand him to get out of my head, but he doesn’t.
After what feels like an eternity, it stops, and I open my eyes to see Elijah at the doorway and Damon finally gone; probably scared off by Elijah.
“Elijah?” I question, wanting; needing to know that it’s really him.
“Katerina,” he greets, as he sits on my bedside.
I rest a gentle hand on the side of his face, looking at him.
We smile at each other.
“You came,” I say.
“I did. I’d like you to go to New Orleans with me. There’s a witch there that can help you.”
“You know I’d go anywhere with you.”
“Then let’s go.”
I smile.
On the way to New Orleans, I think about how Elijah finally came back for me. I’m also wondering what will become of me once I’m cured of this. Will Klaus kill me? Will I have to flee from the Mikaelsons again? Will I be safe in New Orleans, me being human again? Will Elijah alone be enough to protect me? Will Elijah and I finally get a chance to be happy together?
After we arrive in New Orleans, we head to the cemetery where I’m introduced to Davina Claire. Then she does a spell and I’m cured. I’ll stay human as long as Elijah’s willing to protect me and give us another chance.
That night, after everything, he decides to get back together and the others, including Hayley, decide to put up with me being here. This makes me happy. I finally got a part of my life I’ve always wanted.

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure
It was a beautiful day in England on the Mikaelson estate, as Katerina Petrova stopped playing chase, when Elijah did.
"You're meant to catch me," she said with a laugh
"Well, if I catch you, then the game will be over."
He smiled.
She sat on a bench, and he sat next to her.
"True love is not real, unless it is returned. Do you agree?" she asked him.
"I do not believe in love, Katerina," he lied, not wanting to get close to her, knowing her death would break a part of him if he allowed himself to care.
"That is too sad for me to accept, my Lord. Life is too cruel. If we cease to believe in love, then why would we want to live?" she replied.

And I don't wanna miss a thing
Lying close to you feeling your heart beating

Wondering if it's me you're seeing

Like I'm Gonna Lose You (Kalijah)
*American Gothic*
I found myself dreaming
In silver and gold
Like a scene from a movie
That every broken heart knows
We were walking on moonlight
And you pulled me close
Split second and you disappeared
And then I was all alone
Woke up in tears
With you by my side
Breath of relief
And I realized
No, we're not promised tomorrow
So I'm gonna love you
Like I'm gonna lose you
She and Elijah stood in front of each other at the Mikaelson place in Mystic Falls. He'd just told her that he was leaving town.
He rested a hand on the side of her face and she pleaded for him to stay, saying, "It's our turn, Elijah. Please."
"Katerina." For a moment, he looked at her. Then he kissed her on the forehead. "Goodbye, Katerina." Then he was gone.
I'm gonna hold you
Like I'm saying goodbye
Wherever we're standing
I won't take you for granted
'Cause we'll never know when
When we'll run out of time
So I'm gonna love
Like I'm gonna lose you
So I'm gonna love you

"Because I meant what I said about my feelings for you. And I'd like to think that you feel something for me, too."
In the blink of an eye
Just a whisper of smoke
You could lose everything
The truth is you never know
So I'll kiss you longer baby
Any chance that I get
And I'll make the most out of the minutes
And love with no regrets
Let's take our time
To say what we want
Use what we got
Before it's all gone
'Cause no
We're not promised tomorrow
It was a beautiful day, as they stood in front of each other in a Pennsylvania alleyway.
"Is that what I am to you? A means of survival?" he accused her.
"No. Of course, you're not a means of survival. You looked out for me, when I had no one. You've given me a second chance now, when no one else will. I love you." She rested a hand on the side of his face. "Elijah."

He began to walk away.
She watched for a moment, before catching up with him, and put a hand on his arm.
He looked at her hand on his arm, then her, then her arm, and then her again.
She let go, getting the hint.
"Goodbye, Katherine."
She watched, as he walked away

It was a beautiful day, as she lay in bed at the Salvatore boarding house, on bedrest. She was resting, but then felt someone sit on her bedside. Curious as to who would come see her on her deathbed, she looked, only to see that it was Elijah.
He gave a smile, and she smiled back.
"You're here," she greeted.
She rested a hand on the side of his face.
"Katerina," he greeted back. There wasn't much to say, since she was dying, and they hadn't seen each other since she'd watched him walk away. She understood though, he knew. She knew that family came first to him. Just because he left, didn't mean he didn't still love her. He hated to see her dying, but that was the curse of being a vampire. Outliving someone you love that's not a vampire. She was a vampire, but her anger had gotten her into this situation, when she'd tried to kill Elena. Elena had shoved the cure down her throat, since she didn't want to die. "Close your eyes," he told her.
"But I want to see you," she said, her hand now off his face and back on the bed.
"You will," he assured her.
She closed her eyes and he went inside her head, giving her a peaceful dream world.
*1492/Dream World*
Wherever we're standing
I won't take you for granted
'Cause we'll never know when
When we'll run out of time
So I'm gonna love you
Like I'm gonna lose you
So I'm gonna love you
Like I'm gonna lose you
It was a beautiful day, as they played chase with each other.
"You're meant to catch me," she said with a laugh and a smile.
"But if I catch you, then the game will be over," he replied to her.
They went to sit on the bench next to each other, and she spoke of love.
"True love is not real, unless it is returned. Do you agree?" she said.
"I do not believe in love, Katerina."
"That is too sad for me to accept, my Lord. If we cease to believe in love, then why would we want to live?" she replied.
When he gave her a peaceful dream world, it was the moment in 1492 that they had connected, even though he hadn't wanted to connect with her, but had fallen for her from that moment on.
They shared a moment and kissed.
I found myself dreaming
In silver and gold
Like a scene from a movie
That every broken heart knows
We were walking on moonlight
And you pulled me close
Split second and you disappeared
And then I was all alone
Woke up in tears
With you by my side
Breath of relief
And I realized
No, we're not promised tomorrow
So I'm gonna love you
Like I'm gonna lose you
She and Elijah stood in front of each other at the Mikaelson place in Mystic Falls. He'd just told her that he was leaving town.
He rested a hand on the side of her face and she pleaded for him to stay, saying, "It's our turn, Elijah. Please."
"Katerina." For a moment, he looked at her. Then he kissed her on the forehead. "Goodbye, Katerina." Then he was gone.
I'm gonna hold you
Like I'm saying goodbye
Wherever we're standing
I won't take you for granted
'Cause we'll never know when
When we'll run out of time
So I'm gonna love
Like I'm gonna lose you
So I'm gonna love you
Like I'm gonna lose you
It was a dismal night, as she stood in front of him in Pennsylvania.
"What do you want?" he questioned.
"To tell you that you're right. I've spent so much time running and lying just to survive, I—I'm starting to believe my own lies. I don't even remember who I was when we first met. And I want to find out."
"How do I know this isn't another lie? Katherine Pierce deceiving yet another man?"
"Because I meant what I said about my feelings for you. And I'd like to think that you feel something for me, too."
In the blink of an eye
Just a whisper of smoke
You could lose everything
The truth is you never know
So I'll kiss you longer baby
Any chance that I get
And I'll make the most out of the minutes
And love with no regrets
Let's take our time
To say what we want
Use what we got
Before it's all gone
'Cause no
We're not promised tomorrow
It was a beautiful day, as they stood in front of each other in a Pennsylvania alleyway.
"Is that what I am to you? A means of survival?" he accused her.
"No. Of course, you're not a means of survival. You looked out for me, when I had no one. You've given me a second chance now, when no one else will. I love you." She rested a hand on the side of his face. "Elijah."
He turned his face away, and she dropped her hand.
"You don't believe me."
"I want to. It's my disease. I just keep wanting to believe you, but how can I when, at every turn, you give me a reason to doubt you? I don't know you. I don't think I ever will."
He began to walk away.
She watched for a moment, before catching up with him, and put a hand on his arm.
He looked at her hand on his arm, then her, then her arm, and then her again.
She let go, getting the hint.
"Goodbye, Katherine."
She watched, as he walked away

It was a dark night, as the doctors tried to revive her at the hospital. She'd been found at the bottom of the stairs and brought in, after she'd had a heart attack.
Twenty minutes later, she was finally revived, and they put her on bedrest. The doctors didn't think she'd live the rest of the night.
So I'm gonna love you
Like I'm gonna lose you
So I'm gonna love you
Like I'm gonna lose you
I'm gonna love you
Like I'm gonna lose you
And I'm gonna hold you
Like I'm saying goodbye
It was a beautiful day, as she lay in bed at the Salvatore boarding house, on bedrest. She was resting, but then felt someone sit on her bedside. Curious as to who would come see her on her deathbed, she looked, only to see that it was Elijah.
He gave a smile, and she smiled back.
"You're here," she greeted.
She rested a hand on the side of his face.
"Katerina," he greeted back. There wasn't much to say, since she was dying, and they hadn't seen each other since she'd watched him walk away. She understood though, he knew. Because You Loved Me (Kalijah)
*Pennsylvania*
For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful baby
You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You're the one who saw me through it all

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me
After realizing that she was in danger and had found out where, he'd entered the abandoned warehouse and slaughtered the vampires who'd wished to, and had harmed her.
Afterward, he blurred to her side and pulled out the stake, once knelt by her, and with her against him, he bit his wrist to save her, since she was almost fully desiccated.
He put his wrist to her lips, making it go down her throat, saving her life.

You gave my wings and made me fly
You touched my hand I could touch the sky
I lost my faith, you gave it back to me
You said no star was out of reach
You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your love I had it all
I'm grateful for each day you gave me
Maybe I don't know that much
But I know this much is true
I was blessed because I was loved by you
It was a beautiful day, as Elijah spoke on the phone. Stefan had said that Rebekah had joined the good guys. After Elijah told him how much she despised Katherine, Elijah gave a threat to him.
"If anything whatsoever happens to Katerina, I will descend upon Elena."
