Stay (Kalijah)

*American Gothic*

All along it was a fever

A cold sweat hot-headed believer

I threw my hands in the air, said, “Show me something.”

He said, “If you dare, come a little closer.”

Round and around and around and around we go

Oh now, tell me now, tell me now, tell me now you know

Not really sure how to feel about it

Something in the way you move

Makes me feel like I can’t live without you

It takes me all the way

I want you to stay

It was a dismal night, as Katherine stood in front of him after their argument that day.

“What do you want?” he asked.

“To tell you that you’re right. I’ve spent so much time running and lying just to survive I—I’m starting to believe my own lies. I don’t even remember who I was when we first met. And I want to find out.” She set the cure in his hand. “I need you to trust me. I want you to trust me. Just like I’m trusting you. You don’t owe me anything. I’m going to let you decide where we go from here.”

It’s not much of a life you’re living

It’s not just something you take, it’s given

Round and around and around and around we go

Oh now, tell me now, tell me now, tell me now you know

Not really sure how to feel about it

Something in the way you move

Makes me feel like I can’t live without you

Yeah, it takes me all the way

I want you to stay

Later that night, Elijah stood in front of her at the Mikaelson place in Mystic Falls, hating what he was going to do. He’d promised a long time ago to always protect her, but now he figured that she no longer needed protected. She’d be fine without him. Besides, he was only one phone call away if she ever needed him. Surely, she’d call him if she needed help, right? He could only hope that this wasn’t a mistake and that she would someday forgive him for this.

“It’s our turn, Elijah. Please,” she pleaded, once he’d told her that he was leaving town to go help Klaus in New Orleans.

“Katerina,” he said with a hand on the side of her face. He kissed her on the forehead. “Goodbye, Katerina.”

A moment later, he was gone.

*Always and Forever*

Ooh, ooh, ooh, the reason I hold on

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ‘cause I need this hole gone

Funny you’re the broken one but I’m the only one who needed saving

‘Cause when you never see the light it’s hard to know which one of us is caving

Not really sure how to feel about it

Something in the way you move

Makes me feel like I can’t live without you

Yeah, it takes me all the way

I want you to stay, stay

I want you to stay, oooh

It was a dismal night in New Orleans, as she sat in the driver’s side of the car, having crashed it into a streetlight pole, injuring herself in the process. She’d lost a lot of blood with blood on either side of her head and a shard of glass protruding from her abdomen and one shard of glass stabbed into her thigh, which had opened up an artery. She was barely conscious, but everything began to go black as the minutes passed.

Elijah was walking, heading home, when he smelled the familiar scents of human, Katerina, and blood, when he was in a desolate area of the Quarter. So, wondering why she’d be in the same town as his brother, he went in search of Katerina, only to find that she was human and had wrecked a car, and that she was human. He knew now that he’d been wrong that she’d be fine without him. She’d clearly lost a lot of blood.

He blurred to the driver’s side and forced the jammed door open.

“Katerina.” He could tell that she was dying from her injuries and blood loss and was just moments from going fully under. He pulled the shards of glass out and tossed them to the floorboard. He then gently picked her up in his arms. “Stay with me, Katerina,” he pleaded, before blurring off towards the only working hospital.

Half an hour later, he watched as she was rushed down the hall at the hospital.

A few hours later, after surgery, she was put in a recovery room, so now he was seated on her bedside, waiting for her to wake up, knowing that she’d be okay now. It had been a close call, but he’d gotten to her just in time to save her. He didn’t know what would happen if he lost her for good. She was the love of his life. He couldn’t lose her. He loved her so much that he would rather die than to live in a world without her. She was his whole world, excluding his family.
